STAR WARS: The Old Republic has seen several updates and events since March 2025, with more planned for the rest of the year. This letter from Executive Producer Keith provides a clear overview of recent changes and what players can expect next.
Starting with March, Game Update 7.6.1 “Rising Powers” brought new abilities to speed up Uprisings and extra customization options for the Basilisk companion B3-S1. The Spring Event returned, along with fresh Utility Bundles in the Cartel Market and rewards for completing the R-4 Anomaly Operation Veteran Mode in under 40 minutes.
Then in May, Game Update 7.7 “Dynamic Worlds” introduced new Dynamic Encounters on starter planets, capital worlds, and Ilum. Players unlocked new rewards and achievements, including some for taking on the challenging Relentless Replication Master Mode. The update also launched PvP Season 8 “Champions of the Wild”.
One of the most significant additions in 7.7 was over 400 new skin colors for species like Cathar, Chiss, Mirialan, Nautolan, Sith Pureblood, Togruta, and Twi’lek, a welcome expansion for those who love tweaking their characters’ appearances. Character modernization also continued, improving facial detail and skin textures, fixing some color splotchiness, and aligning the Preview Window with in-game visuals. Between updates, Star Wars Celebration 2025™ in Japan gave fans a chance to connect, both in person and in-game. The event featured a video spotlight on The Old Republic™ and teased upcoming story content. Players enjoyed exclusive subscriber rewards like the Jubilee Hoverpod, Naboo Speeder Type-C mount, and an Amethyst Vulptilla mini-pet. Following the celebration, there was a May 4th B25-SAL mini-pet log-in reward, a Double XP event, and various Cartel Market sales.
Many players asked about the progress on DirectX 12. The team has a working version running internally, but more work remains to adapt the UI and fix bugs before it’s ready for testing. Keith expressed optimism about the progress, promising more news later this year.
Looking ahead, Nar Shaddaa Nightlife returns on July 8th with new rewards and updates, details of which will be shared in a separate article. Game Update 7.7.1 will also introduce a new Galactic Season, with its theme and rewards to be revealed closer to release.
Character modernization continues in 7.7.1, with a focus on improving the Rattataki species and companions not covered in the previous update. Bug fixes and refinements will be ongoing based on player feedback.
