Star Wars: The Old Republic Launches Update 7.7.1 ‘Flashpoint Resurgence’

New Galactic Season, Activity Finder tweaks, and quality of life improvements arrive in SWTOR update 7.7.1.

Game Update 7.7.1 “Flashpoint Resurgence” has landed in Star Wars: The Old Republic. It brings a fresh Galactic Season, changes to the Activity Finder, and a bunch of updates that will affect both free and subscribed players. Here’s what you need to know before jumping back into the galaxy far, far away.

Galactic Season 9 introduces Kai Zykken’s new Experimental Combat Enhancers, which provide stronger buffs during Flashpoints. Players can earn rewards through two tracks—Free and Subscriber—with both accessible to subscribers. A new Flashpoint Resurgence queue appears weekly in the Activity Finder, featuring one or two Veteran Flashpoints matching that week’s objectives. It’s a neat way to keep Flashpoint content feeling relevant.

Activity Finder gets a UI and functional overhaul focused on Combat Styles. Now you can pick all roles you qualify for via a Group Role dropdown, including those from multiple Combat Styles. You can even switch Combat Styles while waiting for PVE groups. When the queue pops, a new Join Window shows your current Combat Style, so double-check it matches the role required before joining. A quick link to Combat Styles and Loadouts has been added, but you’ll have to stay on top of your loadouts to avoid surprises.

Another small but welcome change: you can earn Daily Reward Bonus and Weekly Mission credits without selecting every piece of content in the Activity Finder filter. Two numbers next to each content piece show total available versus minimum needed for rewards, which clears up some confusion.

Flashpoint cinematics in Veteran or Master Mode now skip automatically when entered via Activity Finder, replaced by a quick fade to black. Light or Dark side choices will default, and no alignment points are given. If you want the full cinematic experience, you’ll have to enter the Flashpoint manually. Plus, completing certain Veteran Mode Flashpoints no longer requires returning to the fleet to finish access missions, specifically Athiss, Cademimu, Hammer Station, and Mandalorian Raiders.

Free-to-Play and Preferred players get a few nice perks too: access to companion customizations, Legacy Titles, Rest XP, the first Cargo Bay for free, the Hide Head slot, and the ability to withdraw more credits from Escrow when using Cartel Coins. Also, all account types now have access to every quickbar.

Artifact Authorization rules have been adjusted. Gear below level 80 won’t need authorization, but level 80 purple and legendary gear from 7.0 onward still will. This includes legendary implants, certain purple enhancements, and high-grade reusable medpacs, stims, and adrenals.

Security Key holders will only receive Cartel Coin grants if they’ve been active in the last 29 days. No coins will be taken away retroactively. Adding a Security Key is possible via the SWTOR account page, and most authenticators are accepted.

The Cartel Market welcomes new items inspired by the Disney+ series Andor™: the Imperial Scout Mount, Brushback hairstyle, Nightfall Operative Glasses, and Prototype Test Pilot armor set. Perfect if you want to look sharp while causing chaos in the galaxy.

Character select screen lighting and depth of field have been improved to keep the focus on your avatar, though this only applies to the select screen, not your ship. Character modernization continues with better face definition and texture smoothing added to Rattataki, plus fixes for Dark Side corruption issues that made skin colors too pale. Hundreds of new hair and Montreal color options are now available for various species, including Cathar, Chiss, Cyborg, and others. More skin colors have been unlocked for Mirialans and Imperial Zabraks.

Combat changes focus on auditing default abilities for Mercenary/Commando, Operative/Scoundrel, and Sorcerer/Sage. For full details, check the official patch notes.

For those who like Twitch Drops, watching 4 hours of live SWTOR content unlocks the TF-6 Striker Mount. Just connect your SWTOR and Twitch accounts through the official website to claim it.
