Star Wars: Galactic Racer Posts an 88 Metascore Ahead of Oct. 6 Launch
The score ties the racer for fifth among Star Wars games, above every Battlefront title and the Cal Kestis-led Jedi games.

Star Wars: Galactic Racer has an 88 Metascore from 54 critic reviews on Metacritic, tying it for fifth among Star Wars games four days before its October 6, 2026 launch. PS5 reviews make up the largest group in the tally, which also includes 15 PC reviews and 12 for Xbox Series X.
Four games rank above the racer in Metacritic’s Star Wars game rankings: Knights of the Old Republic, Dark Forces 2, Rogue Squadron 2, and Jedi Outcast. Knights of the Old Republic leads at 94. Galactic Racer shares its 88 with Star Wars-themed tables for Pinball FX and ZEN Pinball.
The score also tops every Battlefront title and the Cal Kestis-led Jedi games. The 2004 Battlefront scored 80, its sequel scored 83, and the 2015 game and its sequel scored 73 and 68. Jedi: Survivor sits at 85.
Outside games, Galactic Racer’s 88 is higher than The Empire Strikes Back at 82 and Return of the Jedi at 58. A New Hope remains higher at 90. The 2026 limited series Star Wars: Visions Presents – The Ninth Jedi, first released in August, has a score of 83.
The praise is not unanimous perfection. Eurogamer, Mirror Gaming, Giant Bomb, and Radio Times gave the game full marks. The review set also includes two 7/10 scores and a 68/100, which Metacritic classifies as Positive.
Galactic Racer is scheduled to launch October 6 with a token-based roguelite campaign and three vehicle classes: landspeeders, speeder bikes, and skim speeders. A pre-release overview of the campaign and vehicle classes lays out the systems behind the racer beyond its Star Wars setting.
Does an 88 feel fair for a Star Wars racer, especially when it clears two films but falls just short of A New Hope? For more on the token-based campaign and vehicle lineup ahead of launch, stay connected on X, Bluesky, YouTube, Instagram, Steam, and Telegram.
