GSC GameWorld just released Title Update 1.4.2 for STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl, and while it’s not a massive overhaul, it tackles some annoying bugs that have been messing with gameplay. This patch might smooth things out if you’ve felt the camera lag or weird mutant behavior.
The update mainly focuses on fixing issues rather than boosting performance or revamping major systems like A-Life. So, don’t expect a major update here, but every little fix counts, right?
One of the biggest annoyances fixed is the camera movement when using a gamepad at low framerates. Previously, the camera felt sluggish and unresponsive, but now it reacts better, even if your frame rate isn’t stellar. That was a relief to test out!
Mutants also got some attention—sometimes, they twitched or shook unnaturally when investigating threats, which broke the immersion. That twitchy behavior is gone, making their reactions look way more natural.
Another confusing bug was with quick slots showing consumables that weren’t actually in your inventory. Imagine thinking you have food ready, and then nope, nothing there. Fixed! Now, only items you own show up in quick slots, which makes inventory management less frustrating.
There’s also a balance tweak: the armor-piercing multiplier for 9×18 ammo has been lowered. Not a huge change, but it might make a difference in combat strategies.
Plus, a handful of quest-related bugs got squashed. For example, radio calls and mission triggers that didn’t fire properly are now working as intended, and a few NPCs won’t start fights randomly anymore. Doors that sometimes lock incorrectly on save files during missions have been fixed, too.
If you’re into mods, this patch should play nicely with popular ones like the parkour climbing mod and the fast travel mod. There are even mods to remove inventory weight limits or improve graphics, which you might want to check out.
Steam will download this update automatically when you launch the game next time, so you don’t have to lift a finger. Take a look at the full changelog below for all the details.
