STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl has received an update, Version 1.5.1, from developer GSC GameWorld. This patch focuses mainly on fixing bugs and improving stability rather than performance, so don’t expect smoother gameplay or fewer hitches while wandering the Zone just yet.
Some of the notable fixes include correcting NPC behavior during Emission events in offline mode, so they now properly seek shelter. There was a quirky bug where NPC corpses could fly away after being headshot; that one has been fixed. Also, NPCs that got stuck walking in place should no longer wander endlessly in circles, which is quite the relief. Two specific crashes causing EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION errors were fixed, potentially reducing unexpected game closures.
For players using ultra-wide monitors, the patch addresses an issue where the field of view (FOV) automatically resets to 110, which was rather frustrating. The update also stops mutants and NPCs from spawning in restricted areas like main quest hubs, and NPCs shouldn’t get stuck together anymore while patrolling. The Windows Scale setting will no longer interfere with Fullscreen Borderless and Windowed modes, which should help those with custom display setups.
Keep in mind that this update may not play well with mods. The developers recommend disabling mods first if you encounter any performance or stability issues after installing the patch.
Steam will automatically download the patch the next time you launch the client. Below, you’ll find the full list of changes included in 1.5.1.
