STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl hasn’t exactly had a smooth ride since launch. But good news is coming soon: GSC Game World confirmed that patch 1.5 will drop next week, bringing some much-requested fixes and the long-awaited modding tools. That’s right, modders, your time might finally be coming.
The announcement came during a Q&A session on the official Discord, which was later shared on the game’s subreddit. While some details were already floating around, GSC has confirmed a handful of changes, including a staged reload animation that lets players interrupt and resume reloading without starting over. I don’t know about you, but that sounds like a quality-of-life win.

According to a compiled list from the Discord, ammo for sniper rifles and machine guns is reworked, and ultrawide display issues will be addressed. The mutant damage absorption problem, a sore spot for many players, is also being carefully adjusted. It’s a tricky balance, but GSC seems determined to get it right.
Some new publicly disclosed information about Patch 1.5 and other interesting things coming from GSC-Answers channel on the official Discord.

Difficulty customization is still being discussed internally, but don’t expect it anytime soon. Meanwhile, patch 1.5 will introduce two new weapons teased as an “early game rifle” and a pistol. It’s a modest addition, but new toys always spice things up.
Perhaps the biggest highlight is ZoneKit, the official modding tools launching alongside patch 1.5. GSC promises ongoing development “in close cooperation with Mod Makers and Players,” with frequent updates planned. That could open up a whole new world of content for the community.
Since its rocky debut, STALKER 2 has received some hefty updates, including patches that fix crashes and implement over 1,700 fixes. Still, the game has a ways to go before feeling like the experience it should have been from the start. Meanwhile, the Enhanced Editions of the original trilogy remain rough, though GSC focuses on the sequel for now.
It’s encouraging that GSC is sticking with the game and pushing forward. Will this patch be the turning point? Only time will tell, but I’m cautiously optimistic. What do you think? Will patch 1.5 bring STALKER 2 closer to greatness or just patch up cracks temporarily?
