Typhoon is changing the contract business in STALCRAFT: X, and the Zone’s mercenaries are paying close attention to where the money is going. A new Mercenary storyline asks players to investigate the SSPP unit’s arrival and its effect on the faction’s future.
According to the official Steam announcement, more contracts are being assigned to Typhoon as the unit establishes itself in the Zone. That has put the old rules under pressure, with established mercenaries facing a new competitor that may also become an enemy.
The storyline focuses on the people behind Typhoon. Players will have to determine whether the soldiers are rivals, threats, or simply another group pursuing its own objectives. The contract market offers one obvious motivation, though: finding a way to profit from the unit’s presence.
Completing the Mercenary storyline will reveal how Typhoon’s activity in the Zone affects the faction going forward. It also adds another layer to the growing conflict around the SSPP unit, which has already drawn attention from the region’s existing powers.
