Have you ever wished for your favorite games to hop onto different consoles? Well, it looks like our wishes might just be coming true! Rumors are swirling about Square Enix finally bringing some beloved Final Fantasy titles to the XBOX and the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2.
The talk comes from the reliable folks at the Nate the Hate podcast, who claim that these announcements could drop during Xbox’s Developer Direct live stream as soon as this month. Talk about a surprise party!
Final Fantasy 7 Remake is rumored to land on Xbox in 2025, followed by its sequel, Rebirth, in 2026. Both titles are also expected on Nintendo’s shiny new hardware!
They also hinted that we might see Final Fantasy 16, currently exclusive to PlayStation, making its way to Xbox this year. A PC version is already set for release on January 23, the same day as that Developer Direct event. Rumors also say that we might even get a shadow drop of Final Fantasy 16, which could be available right after its announcement.
“I think following the announcement of Final Fantasy 16, we will see Square Enix confirm that Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Rebirth will be coming to Xbox,” Nate shared during their discussion. How cool would it be if this all happened at once?
The director of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth has expressed interest in seeing more platforms support the Remake trilogy, especially praising Xbox. This sentiment echoes what producer Naoki Yoshida said about wanting to bring Final Fantasy 16 over, too. The stars seem aligned for something big!
The next Developer Direct is scheduled for Thursday, January 23, at various times depending on where you live (10 am Pacific / 1 pm Eastern / 6 pm UK). So mark those calendars. This could be an event you won’t want to miss.
