1047 Games announced that Splitgate 2 has been rebranded as SPLITGATE: Arena Reloaded and will launch free-to-play on December 17, 2025 on PC (Steam and Epic Games Store), Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, and PlayStation 4.
The studio says the relaunch strips away factions, abilities, and select equipment to put focus back on classic arena combat: clean gunfights, portal plays, and outplaying opponents rather than relying on layered systems.
Core systems have been rebuilt. Progression was reworked so weapon and character cosmetics are earned by playing. A true Classic Arena mode will offer even starts and new map pickups. Combat tuning aims to reduce confusing moments and make gunfights feel more meaningful, and the ranked system was overhauled so rank better matches player skill.
The relaunch also adds Mode Select, Player Stats, Ranked Leaderboards, and Account Levels. The map pool expands to 20 with five brand-new maps and six fully reworked arenas. The primary weapon roster gains three new LMGs and returns the Railgun as the Power Weapon. 1047 Games ran multiple beta sessions this year, including a November playtest on Steam that put many of these sandbox changes through their paces before the rebrand and is worth reading for context on what was tested and tuned: November playtest.
Players and creators who need assets can grab the updated press kit from the developer’s Drive folder: SPLITGATE: Arena Reloaded 2025 Presskit. Expect more developer breakdowns and videos in the weeks before launch as 1047 Games details systems, maps, and balance changes heading into the free-to-play release.
