Splitgate 2 returns for one last beta playtest this weekend with two days of sessions on Steam and a handful of changes that the developer says are tuned by player feedback. The playtest runs November 22-23, 10am-4pm PT and will be available through the nov-playtest branch on Steam. Expect a familiar map rework, a power weapon return, party mode mixes, and tightened visuals for portal systems that confused players in earlier tests.

What changed since the last playtest
Portal overloading and EMPs debuted in the previous test and landed with strong community approval. The developer reports that about 90 percent of testers liked the mechanics so the team focused on making portal states visually more apparent. Players should now be able to tell overloaded portals from EMPed portals instantly during firefights.
Three new LMGs were added earlier, but players reported feeling underpowered according to player feedback and telemetry. The team has increased their damage slightly this weekend. Equipment like Proximity Mine, Recon Radar, Regen Cloud, Sand Grenade, and Time Dome were removed during testing, and those removals will remain for relaunch to keep arena combat clearer.
Portal trails were boosted to make them easier to spot. The change is subtle by design, so the trails help orientation without cluttering combat readability. Testers will be asked if the balance is right.
What to play this weekend
Karman Station is back. This map was the first one 1047 Games made, and it returns with portal wall tweaks and movement adjustments to fit the current sandbox. There is also an Ozone Night variant to test new lighting and atmosphere.
The Rail Gun returns as a power weapon players can try during matches. The playtest also introduces a Party Mix playlist that swaps in Team SWAT, Team Fiesta and Shotty Snipers. For testing the matchmaking will queue players into two of three available playlists: Arena with loadouts, Classic Arena with even starts, or Party Mix. That restriction is temporary and exists to make sure each mode sees enough testing time.
Six months of iteration
Since May, the beta has moved from a factions and ability model to a focus on portals, movement, and gunplay. Factions were removed. Abilities were reworked into power-ups. Classic roundless modes like King of the Hill, Domination and Team Deathmatch returned. Classic Arena offers even starts to capture the feel of the original Splitgate. The developer also says effort went into controller feel, menu improvements, bug fixes and optimizations.
This is the final beta test before the relaunch phase. Player feedback this weekend will be used to make last-minute decisions about what ships on day one. Participants are asked to play broadly, file feedback, and complete post-playtest surveys so the team has actionable reports.
