Spirit and G2 push CS2 to a new live-view record

The IEM Cologne quarter-final peaked at 2,044,763 viewers and became the first non-grand final Counter-Strike match to break 2 million concurrent viewers.

The IEM Cologne quarter-final between Spirit and G2 reached a peak of 2,044,763 concurrent viewers, according to Esports Charts, giving Counter-Strike 2 a new benchmark for live audience size.

That figure moved the German event into the top three Counter-Strike tournaments by peak viewership. Only PGL Major Stockholm at 2,748,434 and PGL Major Antwerp at 2,113,610 sit ahead of it now.

The number climbed during the deciding map on Mirage, where Spirit and G2 played a 47-round finish that stretched the series to about five hours. It also made the match the first non-grand final in Counter-Strike history to pass 2 million concurrent viewers.

IEM Cologne also took the CS2 crown from the PGL Copenhagen Major final between Natus Vincere and FaZe, which peaked at 1,853,954. On the ESL side, it moved well beyond the 1,428,993 record set at the 2022 IEM Rio Major.
