SPINE Will Bring Gun Fu Combat to PC and Consoles in Summer 2027
Nekki's single-player action game follows street artist Redline as she battles an oppressive AI and searches for her captured brother in Tensor City.
SPINE will bring stylish Gun Fu combat to PC and consoles in summer 2027. Nekki confirmed the release window alongside a new gameplay trailer on August 26, 2026, although no exact launch date has been announced.
The dystopian city of Tensor City is controlled by Tensor, an artificial intelligence regime that uses ruthless gangs to enforce its rule. Players take the role of Redline, a rebellious street artist who steals a sentient combat implant known as a Spine and turns its power against the forces hunting her while searching for her captured brother.
Nekki describes SPINE as a single-player gun-fu shooter built around firearms, close-quarters combat, shifting viewpoints, and a strong narrative. The implant gives Redline the tools to mix beat ’em up attacks with close-range gunplay. She can dodge incoming fire, vault over enemies, disarm them, and turn their weapons against them without breaking the flow of the fight. The combat is clearly chasing the same kind of kinetic energy associated with The Matrix and John Wick, only with a cyberpunk city and an angry artist at the center of it.
SPINE is being built with Nekki’s proprietary Cascadeur engine, an animation system designed around cinematic action and varied combat encounters. The developer has also created a dedicated combat camera to keep Redline close to the action while preserving player control. Expect the camera to stay right in the middle of the chaos as fights move between punches, gunfire, dodges, and acrobatic takedowns.
A hands-on demo at Summer Game Fest 2025 already showed the game’s mix of slick shooting, shifting viewpoints, and story-driven action. The new footage gives that formula a clearer setting and a better look at the forces Redline will face.
SPINE is scheduled to arrive on PC through Steam and the Epic Games Store, as well as on PS5 and Xbox Series X, in summer 2027. The game can already be added to your Steam wishlist. The official website also offers access to the Bullet Dancers prequel comic for free through its mailing list.
