Mossmouth’s Spelunky and Spelunky 2 are very popular indie roguelite platformers, that are often seen as one of the best in the business. Today, it was announced that these two titles will be making the move to the Nintendo Switch during the Summer 2021 release window.
Spelunky is a 12 year old game, made back in 2008 by Derek Yu and released as freeware for Microsoft Windows. The game got very popular among indie games fans, and it’s regarded as one of the best roguelites ever. It was remade for the Xbox 360 in 2012, with ports of the new version to the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita in 2013, which was also ported back to Microsoft Windows. You’ll journey deep across many different locations and settings, looking for treasures and other goodies.
Meanwhile, Spelunky 2 was released a few months ago for the PC and the PS4, and according to many fans, it has been the top roguelite (along with Hades) for this year. This game takes place on the Moon, in which a family of explorers, searching for treasure and missing family.
The second game has improved graphics and improved world-building when it comes to the first one, but they’re both amazing titles when it comes to the roguelite genre. All features like local and multiplayer co-op will be available on the Switch as well.
