Sony users can now change their PSN ID for free

After countless of days being distant of a very common feature found almost everywhere, PlayStation confirmed that PSN users will be able to change their online ID. However, the service will be paid, except for the first time, when changing your PSN wouldn’t cost you a thing.

Any additional PSN changes will cost $9,99. This has been announced on the official PlayStation blog, which also states that PS Plus users will get 50% service discount. Being able to change the PSN ID has been one of the most demanding services by the users.

Changing the PSN ID could be done in two different ways. The first is by using the official website, and the second one is by using the PS4 console in your property. However, this may hit a roadblock as any previously acquired records in video games may cause leaderboards distortion. The leaderboards will eventually receive an update but may be a lingering process.

It will allow players to keep their anonymity if they’re feeling the pressure of exposure. We all have friends who love to lay low for a short period after being exposed and classified as good, or famous. However, knowing that the leaderboards also change, it will be somewhat easy to put a track on them.

People who opt in into changing the PSN ID will also get the chance to revert back to some of the old and previously used names for free. This will be only possible by contacting PlayStation support, who will keep a reference of your previously used PSN IDs.

My goal is to deliver fresh news and updates, but most of the time I want to work on guides. Since I have rebooted this website, I am planning on making it huge. Just you wait!
