The Outer Worlds 2 has a small, funny wrinkle to player choice that has been turning heads. If you strip off your clothes and stroll around without garments, several NPCs will notice and react, sometimes with mocking lines or outright scolds during missions and conversations. Players on Reddit shared clips showing examples, including a scene where companion Niles asks, “Should I be averting my eyes, or?” Other characters take a more formal tone, with one Earth Directorate official reprimanding the player for showing up to a “professional mission briefing” like they belong at “a naturist social club meeting.”
These reactions are lightweight roleplay touches rather than mechanical effects. There do not appear to be perks or flaws tied to running around naked, but the responses add flavor to interactions and can shift a scene’s tone for readers who want to build options. Obsidian’s attention to small reactive details is nothing new, and we covered the game’s rollout in our launch coverage. The way NPCs call out peculiar player choices is another example of those little touches that change how a scene plays out, even if just for a laugh. For a related note on the game’s design decisions, see our piece on why The Outer Worlds 2 will not let you respec.

Some NPCs notice if you choose to walk around without clothes. There should be a flaw for not wearing clothes.

Love Obsidian so I'm happy that Outer Worlds 2 is awesome so far, so much better than the first one.
Got naked to see if NPCs reacted, and well, let's just say these vids show the independently reactive nature of NPCs/the world in general. pic.twitter.com/XuFnZOdfjc

Players who enjoy small roleplay flourishes will probably get a kick out of this, and players who prefer a straighter tone can always keep their gear on. Join the conversation and follow us on X, Bluesky, and YouTube.
