The latest patch for Smite 2, dubbed the Closed Alpha 8 – 12/13/24 Patch, has rolled out, and it’s packing some spicy changes that could make or break your next match. With new CC buffering mechanics and bug fixes, it’s time to explore what exactly has changed and what this means for your Smite gameplay. You can find the full list of patch notes below:

CC Buffering

  • Silences now interrupt prefires, meaning you are unable to buffer into a Silence.
  • Ares No Escape now cripples enemies that he chains, meaning you are now unable to buffer movement abilities into his Ultimate. This ability will still cripple even when our CC Buffering tests are not active.
  • Hades Shroud of Darkness (Ability 2) will now Silence in addition to Fearing when used on a Blighted target. This will not impact Diminishing Return stacks. This is to make sure that getting the better version of the ability doesn’t allow buffering when the base does not.
  • Be sure to complete our CC Buffering Survey if you’ve had a chance to play with the new feature!

Bug Fixes

Gods

  • Fixed an issue with Aphrodite’s tether showing as multiple beams stretching into the distance
  • Fixed an issue with Izanami and Thor’s projectiles not returning properly
  • Fixed an issue with Medusa’s A03 missing knockup immunity and not playing SFX at close range
  • Fixed an issue with Neith backflip riding deployed walls

User Interface (UI)

  • Fixed an issue with console mouse cursor alignment
  • Fixed an issue with console mouse cursor disappearing when hovering over UI buttons
  • Fixed an issue where the network indicator icon appeared too frequently and reduced size of the icon

General Improvements

  • Fixed a crash related to browsing god loadouts
  • Added Stability improvements

This update feels like Hi-Rez takes player feedback seriously, especially with those CC adjustments. Have you ever gotten caught in an Ares chain and just wished you could blink away? Well, guess what? Now, you’ll have to think twice before trying that escape plan. And let’s not forget about the bugs, the ones that made us question our sanity while playing Medusa or Aphrodite. It’s like they were playing hide-and-seek with functionality!

If you’re exploring back into matches after this patch drops, watch how these tweaks affect your favorite gods’ performance. Will Hades become even more of a nightmare? Only time will tell, but I’m betting on it!
