Open Beta 21 for Smite 2 hits Steam as the Goddess of Magic update, packing a new god, a Conquest map mode that shifts every few minutes, a handful of seasonal Travelers, and a stack of item and balance changes.
Eset – the Goddess of Magic
A new caster arrives with a toolkit built around control, protection, and stacking buffs. Eset plays like a defensive mage who can still pressure fights.
- Wing Gust (1): Fires four magic projectiles, gains speed, and grants crowd control immunity while active.
- Spirit Ball (2): Launches a spirit orb that detonates for scaling damage and stuns.
- Dispel Magic (3): Silences, slows, strips protections, and can shield allies.
- Circle of Protection (4): Places a damage-reducing zone that heals and explodes with stored energy.
Aspect of the Lifewarden releases Oct 24 – it grants Transference healing from Wing Gust and turns Dispel Magic into an instant ally shield without requiring a hit.
Moonlight Phase – a rotating Conquest feature
Conquest gets a new timed phase that visibly and mechanically alters the map every six minutes. The Moonlight Phase adds a layer of objective play and short-term power spikes:
- Collect Moonlight Shards from crystals, kills, and objectives.
- Hit 100 Shards to trigger the Ritual of the Full Moon, granting speed boosts and Star Strikes that reveal and damage enemies.
- End-of-phase scoring can award Gold and spawn Naga Lane Pushers to the team that is ahead.
Wandering Market Travelers – Fat Loki is real
The Travelers for this patch lean hard into spooky-season personality. The most eyebrow-raising entry is Fat Loki Cabrakan – yes, the oversized Loki riff is an actual Premium Page unlock and comes with its own Ward skin and prisms. The new Aspect of the Rotund Jotunn for Cabrakan drops Oct 27 and adds stealth plus a teleporting ultimate.
Lil’ Thanatos Cupid bundles both the Lil’ Thanatos and Big Head Cupid skins, assorted prisms, an announcer pack, and a Reaping Event pumpkin. Void Wyrm Kukulkan returns Oct 27; owning any Void Wyrm skin grants instant access to that Premium Page.
Supporter Store and cosmetics
- Halloween 2025 Teleporter VFX Bundle includes the Boo Buddy and Reaping! teleporter effects.
- New and returning skins include Hell’s Fury Mercury (cross-gen) and various prisms and badges tied to Travelers.
Items, Moonlight gear, and tuning highlights
The Moonlight Phase also brings a set of phase-specific items plus new core gear that changes how fights play out during those windows.
- Moonlight items: Helm of Darkness (speed during Moonlight and stealth-damage), Screeching Gargoyle (silence and protection reduction in Moonlight), The Reaper (keeps stacks through death while Moonlight is active).
- New core items: Eye of Erebus (adaptive scaling with Watchful Eye trap), Chandra’s Grace (regen and cooldown reduction for low-health allies), Xibalban Effigy (absorbs damage then returns mitigated damage).
- Item tuning buffs include Ancile, Arondight, Brawler’s Ruin, Death Metal, and Talisman of Purification. Necronomicon is reworked into a 6-stack system.
Quality of life and ranked adjustments
- Match lobby visuals and lighting receive improvements for clearer pick and ban reads.
- Soft Ranked Reset for Conquest nudges top ranks downward slightly while ranks below Platinum 3 remain stable, and players can earn badges for last split’s performance.
God balance and fixes
- Buffs: Athena, Awilix, Ra.
- Nerfs: Ares, Nu Wa, Sun Wukong, Xbalanque.
- Bug fixes include a Fenrir tooltip correction and Jormungandr scaling adjustments.
The patch leans into seasonal flair while adding a mid-match objective layer that will change Conquest pacing every six minutes. The Travelers and cosmetic bundles give the update a loud Halloween vibe, and the item and god tuning aim to shift power curves around the Moonlight windows.
