Smite 2 OB15 Hotfix Brings Bug Fixes and Item Balance Adjustments

Smite 2's OB15 hotfix addresses HUD issues and tweaks several item stats for better gameplay balance.

Smite 2 has received its OB15 hotfix on July 31, focusing on fixing some pesky bugs and adjusting item balance. This update is important because it smooths out a few rough edges that players have been dealing with, especially around the HUD and item functionalities. Plus, several items have been tweaked to shift gameplay dynamics a bit.

Let’s talk about the bug fixes first. The update fixed an issue where the HUD would disappear if changes were made using the HUD editor in Practice mode. That must have been confusing for players trying to customize their setup. Also, The Morrigan players won’t see that annoying quickplay pick 3 item buying popup anymore when they transform or detransform. Another fix involved the cooldown on Prophetic Cloak, which should now work as intended. And finally, all items are now properly tagged as “New,” so they appear correctly in the New Items section of the shop. Handy, right?

Now, on to the balance changes…

Patch Notes

  • War Banner: Fixed an issue where the heal was incorrectly calculated using the holder’s Health and Mana instead of the target’s.
  • Death’s Embrace: Health Heal decreased from 1.4% to 1% of Maximum Health; Lifesteal lowered from 10% to 7.5%.
  • Vital Amplifier: Attack Speed reduced from 20% to 10%.
  • Brawler’s Beat Stick: Strength decreased from 45 to 40; total Strength during passive from 79 to 70; Intelligence reduced from 60 to 55; total Intelligence during passive from 105 to 96; Passive Bonus Physical Protection lowered from 30 to 25; Heal Detection Range cut from 11.2m to 7.2m.
  • Gluttonous Grimoire: Lifesteal decreased from 10% to 7.5%.
  • Devourer’s Gauntlets: Strength per stack reduced from 0.5 to 0.4, meaning total Strength at 75 stacks drops from 37.5 to 30; Evolve Lifesteal lowered from 5% to 3%.
  • Contagion: Health Regen decreased from 8 to 6; Contagion duration shortened from 20 seconds to 8 seconds.
  • Heartwood Charm: Active Cooldown Reduction from casting heals decreased from 10 seconds to 6 seconds.

Wow, that’s quite a few changes to items that many players rely on. These tweaks might make some builds less dominant, but maybe that’s what they were going for. Do you think these adjustments will affect your usual playstyle? Some of these reductions are pretty noticeable, especially the cut in Contagion’s duration and the War Banner heal fix.

What I find interesting is the approach to balance here: rather than buffing weaker items, they’re mostly toning down the stronger ones. It’s a subtle but clear nudge to keep things competitive and fair. Yikes, that Brawler’s Beat Stick took a hit on multiple fronts.

All in all, this patch should make matches feel a bit more balanced and fix some quality-of-life issues. If you’ve been annoyed by HUD glitches or those strange popups with The Morrigan, this update will definitely help. And for those who obsess over item stats, there’s plenty to experiment with now.
