Fans of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim have something to celebrate with the release of a new version of the fan remake in Unreal Engine 5. This update, shared by creator Greg Coulthard, introduces over 1000 new textures that breathe fresh life into the iconic game world. It’s a delightful treat for those who cherish Skyrim’s rich landscapes and lore.
This project aims to recreate the entire map of Skyrim using modern technology, offering a glimpse into what a remaster could look like on today’s engines. While it lacks gameplay mechanics, players can only wander through this beautifully rendered environment, it still allows fans to appreciate the artistry involved. The visuals are impressive; they sometimes capture what many imagine when considering this classic title.
The standout feature in this latest version is undoubtedly the new Texture Pack from Digital Dreams. Although not flawless, it significantly improves visual fidelity compared to previous iterations. According to Coulthard, this pack boasts over 1000 newly crafted textures that enhance various elements throughout Skyrim.
Download this updated version from Greg’s Discord server if you want to try out it. Once there, head to the “bethesda_unreal” section to access the download link.
High-end GPU owners can also take advantage of tech demos showcasing environments reminiscent of titles like The Witcher or an intricately designed Italian town. Last month, a demo for King’s Field 2, another nostalgic title brought back to life through modern technology, was released.
If you haven’t yet experienced Coulthard’s port of Oblivion in Unreal Engine 5, I highly recommend giving it a look. Like Skyrim’s remake, it offers an expansive view of Tamriel’s earlier days with impressive graphical updates.
