Developer Sam Eng issued a small update for Skate Story addressing PlayStation 5 Pro performance problems. Patch 1.006.000, a 432 MB download, was released December 16, 2025 and aims to correct instability that affected players on Sony’s enhanced PS5 model while the game ran normally on standard PS5 hardware. The patch arrived a week after the game’s launch on PS5 and its addition to PS Plus Extra, which broadened the player base.
Reports flagged by Digital Foundry’s John Linneman described the Pro build as “extremely unstable and messy” before the fix. Linneman later updated his impressions and said “the game is now awesome on PS5 Pro,” attributing the earlier issues to a bug that the patch addressed.
PSA: If you're interested in checking out Skate Story, avoid the console versions. I've been looking forward to it and bought it on PS5…but the performance f**** sucks. It's extremely unstable and messy – VRR can't save it. What a shame. Trying to figure out if I can refund it.

The developer recommended installing update 1.006.000 for anyone playing on a PS5 Pro to see the improvements; the studio did not publish a full line-by-line changelog with this release. A short announcement from the game’s official account is available on X.
