Exciting news for skateboarding fans! Electronic Arts has opened closed playtesting for the much-anticipated Skate on consoles. After more than two years of testing exclusively on PC, players on Xbox and PlayStation can finally get in on the action.
The announcement came via a post on the game’s X account. Players can now register to participate in playtests. The team behind Skate assures us that they’ll continue to invite new players as they move forward. I wonder if we’ll see any surprising gameplay changes based on community feedback!
The developers emphasize their dedication to making Skate the best it can be, bringing testers into the fold earlier than usual for this industry. It’s a fresh approach that could shape the final product, something I find particularly interesting. How much influence will players have before the game’s launch?
Initially revealed in June 2020, this new entry in the series generated quite a buzz, even breaking EA’s Twitter engagement record with its announcement. That kind of excitement is hard to come by!
Skate is designed to be a free-to-play title and marks the debut of Full Circle, a Vancouver-based studio led by former Xbox Live general manager Daniel McCulloch. With cross-play and cross-progression support across PC and consoles, players will have plenty of options when it finally releases.
A mobile version is reportedly “still in development and part of our future plans.” This could mean even more ways for fans to enjoy skating on the go! I’m curious if they’ll capture that same thrill as on consoles.
Much love to everyone, and have a great day! I am Mihaela, and I am glad to be seeing you reading this piece!
