Forever Skies has arrived on Xbox Series X|S, bringing its post-apocalyptic survival adventure to a new group of players. The game puts you in charge of a high-tech airship that acts as a mobile base, workshop, laboratory, and shelter above a toxic world.
The Xbox release launched alongside The Final Echoes, the game’s largest content update. It adds a new power system, revised airship damage, more than 30 side quests, fresh enemies, new combat encounters, larger landmarks, more environmental variety across three biomes, and custom difficulty settings. Six Forever Skies Tips for New Pilots
1. Complete Side Quests Early
Side quests do more than fill in the story behind Earth’s collapse. They can provide airship decorations, resources, lore, and technology that may not be available through other activities. Some missions reward powerful devices, so leaving them until the end can leave your airship short on useful equipment.
2. Turn Off Beacons After Scavenging Locations
Many locations have a flashing beacon at their highest point. After landing and collecting everything you need, remove the battery powering that beacon. The light will disappear, giving you an easy visual reminder that the location has already been searched.
3. Build Duplicate Devices
A single water filter, engine, or fabricator can keep things moving, but several machines will make resource production much quicker. Building duplicates early gives the airship more breathing room and becomes even more useful in co-op, where more players need food, water, and equipment.
Empty rooms are an invitation to expand. As the airship grows, filling them with additional production devices can reduce the time spent waiting for materials.
4. Capture Lightning for Surplus Status
The Final Echoes adds a power system that ties airship performance to generation and consumption. If devices draw too much electricity, they can start taking damage. Keeping generation and consumption balanced creates Stable Status, but the stronger Surplus Status requires generators upgraded to capture lightning during violent storms.
That extra energy can make crafting stations work faster, improve resource production, and give the airship a flight-speed boost. Building generators is only part of the job. Upgrading them to harness storms is where the bigger benefits begin.
5. Prepare Before Entering Combat
The player character is a scientist, not a heavily trained soldier, so charging straight into every fight is a bad plan. Look for openings, use electrical mines, test different ammunition types, and bring stat boosters when possible. Preparation and careful timing matter more than brute force against the planet’s altered flora and fauna.
6. Adjust Custom Difficulty Without Losing Achievements
Custom difficulty lets players change how quickly hunger, thirst, oxygen, and energy drain. Those systems can also be disabled, and resource requirements for building and crafting can be removed if desired.
The settings also cover death penalties, enemy health, enemy damage, and spawn frequency. An accessibility option can even replace the game’s giant mantis enemies with floating torso-like creatures. These choices can be changed at any point, and using custom difficulty does not disable achievements.

Forever Skies is available now on Xbox Series X|S. It supports solo play and online co-op for up to four players. Xbox Play Anywhere also carries progress between Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC, and supported Xbox gaming handhelds.
