Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is stirring up some chatter with a rumour about its campaign’s final mission possibly forcing players into a multiplayer extraction mode. It’s quite a shift from what we’re used to with Call of Duty campaigns, which usually stick to cinematic solo or co-op story missions.
Word from Insider Gaming’s Tom Henderson, who’s often pretty dependable with these leaks, hints that the campaign’s last mission might drop players into a 32-player extraction shooter environment. You’d be teaming up in squads against other players, completing objectives, and trying to extract your loot intact on a map called Avalon, which has been previously rumoured to be part of the game.
Yeah, it sounds kinda wild. Imagine having to face off against other squads in what feels like a multiplayer match to finish the story? That’s not something Call of Duty has done before, and it could change the vibe of the campaign. Would you even want to finish the story if it meant jumping into a multiplayer firefight? Guess they’re hoping it works, but it’s a bold move.
On top of that, Henderson says you’ll be able to level up your Battle Pass, characters, and weapons during the campaign itself. That kinda ties the single-player and multiplayer progression together more tightly than before. Sounds like the campaign is leaning hard into co-op and multiplayer integration. But, yikes, what about folks who want a classic story-driven campaign? They might feel left out or annoyed if the campaign’s finale forces multiplayer participation.
Black Ops 7 is will be a prominent feature at Gamescom Opening Night Live, so we’ll probably get a clearer picture soon. Rumours also say the game might drop on 14th November, putting it right against Battlefield 6. November’s going to be intense for shooter fans, huh?
What do you think? Would you be down for a campaign that ends in a big multiplayer extraction mission, or is that a no-go? Is this a fresh take or a weird detour?
