Rising Front, the World War I sandbox from Sandstorm Studios, reached version 1.0 on January 11, 2026, exiting early access on Steam.
The update adds full support for player-controlled and AI-driven tanks, armored cars, and cavalry, bringing classic hardware such as the British Mark IV, the French Renault FT17, the German Sturmpanzerwagen A7v and a Char 2C into the playable roster. It also expands mounted units with dragoons, lancers, and carabiniers, plus historical extras like Pulaski’s Legion.
The game still runs its large-scale simulations. Rising Front can field “engagements with 1,000-plus units in action simultaneously,” letting you switch between a top-down strategic view and direct first-person control. The 1.0 release also remakes every official scenario, adds seven new maps and one rework, introduces six new weapons, dozens of buildables, more weather types, and gives bots the ability to use grenades. The update includes full controller and Steam Deck support and keeps Steam Workshop for community content and mods.
Developer Jack of Sandstorm Studios called the work “an incredible amount of work,” and said, “This is a colossal update that changes a huge portion of the game, and I truly hope you all enjoy it.” He said the team will monitor Steam forums and Discord for feedback and that several more updates are almost completed.
Rising Front is on sale at a 20% launch discount through Friday, January 23, making the game $11.99 / A310.23 on Steam. Find the Steam store page here.
