Riot Games is reportedly working on an unpublished R&D title, according to several job adverts that have appeared online. The listings, which include a variety of senior creative and marketing roles, are posted on Riot’s careers page and list Los Angeles as the base for the work. Riot has not confirmed the project.
Some of the listings were said to explicitly mention experience with the VALORANT IP and the FPS genre, language that sent corners of the community into overdrive about a shooter spin-off. A separate write-up picked up a portion of the job text, quoting requirements around character creation and familiarity with modern engines like Unity or Unreal.
Meanwhile, a leaker posted early build screenshots on X, drawing attention from larger sites that mirrored the images. The original social post is still online, and a coverage piece rounded up the leaked material. Riot has not validated the screenshots.
There's a rumor Riot Games’ Project T — a MMO-FPS featuring “seasons” and “personal quarter progression” — recently held a CLOSED PLAYTEST.
Believed to be a VALORANT IP – EXTRACTION FPS.
If real:
it may be the same project Riot Ziegler led before leaving for Bungie's MARATHON. https://t.co/gGya13XPNG pic.twitter.com/eSGelLIsme— PlayerIGN (@PlayerIGN) August 25, 2025
The posted roles include positions such as Associate Art Director for 3D Art, Brand Management Director, and Director of Marketing Creative Direction, all of which suggest team-building efforts for something beyond a simple update. Riot’s 2025 slate has already been busy; the studio moved one fighting-game project into Early Access and backed community tournaments to build its scene, and even committed sponsorship support for events. We also wrote about Riot’s fighting-game tests when the closed beta ran, which helps explain why fans jump on any hint of a new competitive shooter 2XKO closed beta and what we learned.
Riot’s plans this year also include a trading-card project, with a global release schedule and a Worlds bundle revealed in recent weeks and a Worlds tie-in bundle detailed earlier this month. None of that confirms the LA job posts point to a VALORANT sequel or spin-off, but the timing and the language in the adverts have added fuel to the conversation.
