Riot Games announced a new tactical FPS, Codename Project A

Riot Games has revealed that a new Tactical FPS is in the works. The project, called Project A, is focusing on a mesh between CS: GO and Overwatch, which may be quite the right mix when it comes to FPS of this caliber. Within a trailer that lasts a couple of minutes, we were able to see the result and path that Riot Games is aiming to take.

According to the official press release:

Riot Games is developing a stylish, competitive, character-based tactical shooter for PC, temporarily codenamed Project A. The game is set on a beautiful near-future Earth and has a lethal cast of characters, each with unique abilities that create tactical opportunities for their gunplay to shine. More information to be revealed in 2020.

Before we continue further, take a look at the announcement trailer.

It’s quite amusing to see Riot Games explaining their goals, primarily when the discussion did spread towards server tick rate and anti-cheat. Riot Games has promised a cheater-free game that would allow a great player experience.

Improved Netcode is what everyone wants to hear about, and recent events and announcements have proven Riot Games’ plans. The next stop would probably be an Open-World MMORPG, as Project A is the last piece of the puzzle that settles in one of the most popular genres. Having all of the popular genres filled with a game, that would make space for Riot Games to focus on something bigger.
