Over two months after launch, Rematch developer Sloclap pushed a third major update that enabled crossplay, yet a follow-up mini dev note on September 5, 2025 confirmed there are no plans to add cross-platform progression. That matters because progress, purchases, and stats will stay locked to whatever system players originally used.
The crossplay toggle lets players team up and match against opponents regardless of platform, and Sloclap said keeping crossplay on improves matchmaking queues. The developer reiterated the decision in a brief update posted to the game’s official website, which clearly outlines the change. The mini dev update on PlayRematch is the primary source for the confirmation and explains the team’s current stance.
Players who bought Rematch on Xbox through Game Pass and later move to PlayStation or PC will not retain unlocked gear, purchases, or match statistics and must start over on that new platform. Progress stays on the original platform.
Crossplay
To be clear, Crossplay means:
- cross-platform matchmaking (playing with and against players from other platforms),
- cross-platform social features (inviting and playing with friends from other platforms).
Because Rematch is a paid title rather than a free-to-play game, the lack of account-wide progression has practical consequences for anyone considering a switch to a different system. Purchases and unlocks do not move, so moving platforms means rebuilding cosmetics, progress, and any paid content. There is no indication in the developer update that cross-platform progression will arrive later.
