Rematch Season 6 Will Start Oct. 23 With Player Contracts and New Comms

Sloclap is also moving Legends League to Season 7 and the Volley & Hit Contacts System rework to Season 8.

Rematch Season 6 will begin Oct. 23 with a new Player Contracts progression system and expanded team communication options. Sloclap’s Season 6 dev blog also lays out a brief Ranked break, limited gameplay tuning, and changes to the studio’s roadmap.

Season 6 starts after a short Ranked break

All times for the Oct. 23 changeover are UTC. Patch S6.0 will go live at 08:00, followed by a store update at 10:00. Season 5 ends at 12:00, when Ranked modes will be disabled and Season 5 Ranked rewards distributed to all players. Season 6 starts at 14:00, and Ranked modes will return then.

Gameplay adjustments will be relatively restrained while Sloclap tests Netcode 2.0, since introducing many other changes at the same time could make it harder to identify what is affecting play. The S6.0 adjustments will reduce tackle assist, volley height, and Defense Mode, while slightly improving sprint stamina costs. Full patch notes will be published before the update goes live.

The Netcode 2.0 beta went live Oct. 14 through the Rematch Beta Test app on Steam and is tentatively scheduled to run until mid-November. That start came a day after the tentative Oct. 13 timing in Sloclap’s earlier beta timetable. The rework changes how the server handles tackles, goalkeeper dives, catches, and ball control, with the goal of reducing rollbacks and desyncs. It also adds a 50 ms input delay. Players can send feedback and bug reports through Feature Upvote.

Player Contracts take over progression

Player Contracts will replace the old Player Level system with progressive rewards and profile customization options that players can choose based on how they play. The Amateur Contract will be required to queue for Ranked. Anyone who reached Player Level 5 or higher will start Season 6 with that contract unlocked.

Contracts are due to arrive with the S6.0 patch or shortly afterward, and Sloclap will record players’ old levels around that time. Those levels will also determine legacy rewards, including caps and Player Profile elements. Players who want to raise their old level have until Oct. 23 to do so.

Quick Chat adds team calls

Quick Chat will have three groups of new phrases. Compliments include “Thanks!”, “Good job!” and “We got this!” Apologies add “Nice try!”, “Sorry!” and “No problem!”, while tactical calls include “Unmarked!”, “Behind you!” and “Get back!” The new interface will be the default, but players can switch back to the old one in settings. Every phrase can be remapped on keyboard and controller, and is voiced in all supported audio languages.

Players will also be able to send “GG!”, “Team up!” or “Thanks!” to their team from the end-of-match screen. Push to Talk will become the default voice chat option, with other voice settings still available.

Legends League and contact changes move back

Legends League and matchmaking improvements, originally planned for Season 6, are now scheduled for Season 7. Legends League will include a top 500 leaderboard for each region and changes to RP attribution near the top of the ladder, particularly at Elite rank.

The Volley & Hit Contacts System rework moves to Season 8. Sloclap says it will finish that work after the Netcode changes have stabilized. The rework is intended to make close volley encounters more granular and challenging. The studio also plans to share a full 2027 roadmap later this year.
