Red Dead Redemption 2 still asks for plenty of space, but the PC specs are far from brutal in 2026
Rockstar's western still needs 150GB on PC, though the minimum CPU and GPU targets are old enough that many gaming rigs can clear them without much trouble.

Red Dead Redemption 2 remains one of those PC games that looks huge on your drive but fairly forgiving on your hardware in 2026. The open-world western still asks for 150GB of storage, yet the listed CPU, GPU, and memory targets are well within reach for many machines built over the last several years.
For the core Red Dead Redemption 2 PC setup, the minimum and recommended requirements are laid out below:
| Minimum | Recommended | |
| OS | Windows 10 64-bit | Windows 10 64-bit |
|---|---|---|
| GPU | Nvidia GeForce GTX 770 AMD Radeon R9 280 |
Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 AMD Radeon RX 480 |
| VRAM | 2-3GB | 4-6GB |
| CPU | Intel Core i5 2500K AMD FX 6300 |
Intel Core i7 4770 AMD Ryzen 5 1500X |
| RAM | 8GB | 12GB |
| Storage | 150GB | 150GB |
That minimum list is old-school by current standards. An Intel Core i5 2500K or AMD FX 6300, paired with a GTX 770 or Radeon R9 280, should still get the game running. If you want the recommended target, Rockstar points to an Intel Core i7 4770 or AMD Ryzen 5 1500X, along with a GTX 1060 or Radeon RX 480.
The biggest pressure point is storage, not raw horsepower. Red Dead Redemption 2 needs 150GB of free space, and while a hard drive can handle it, an SSD will make the wait between loads a lot less painful.
There is no sign of ray tracing support, and Nvidia has not suggested that changes. The game does support Nvidia DLSS and AMD FSR 2.0, which can help if you are pushing higher resolutions, ultrawide displays, HDR, or multi-monitor play.
It is also worth noting that the game still holds up well on Valve’s handheld, which is why it continues to sit among the best Steam Deck games for players who want a big single-player world on the go.
If you are still planning a replay in 2026, these requirements should make it easier to judge whether your PC is ready. Tell us what you think in the comments, and follow us on X, Bluesky, YouTube, Instagram.
