Ubisoft is rolling out a July 9 hotfix update for Rainbow Six Siege X that focuses squarely on tackling cheating and exploits. This update is essential because cheating remains a persistent issue in many online FPS games, and Rainbow Six Siege X players have voiced concerns about unfair advantages. The patch aims to reduce those problems on PC.
Cheating in online shooters is, unfortunately, a common practice these days. Titles like Delta Force and even big names like Call of Duty have struggled with it, leading to measures like the RICOCHET anti-cheat system. So it’s not surprising to see Ubisoft taking steps for Rainbow Six Siege X, which has also had its share of issues.
The official Rainbow Six Siege X Twitter shared a heads-up on July 8, thanking the community for their reports and confirming fixes were coming for some of the pressing issues. The update will specifically target a third-party software exploit that has been giving some players an unfair edge.
The patch will be PC-only and will require approximately one hour of downtime, starting at 09:00 EDT / 13:00 UTC on July 9. Once the maintenance finishes, the hotfix will be fully enforced.
It’s somewhat of a relief to see Ubisoft actively addressing these issues, although I’m curious: how many players feel this will be enough? Cheaters often find new ways, so I wonder if there will be ongoing efforts or if this is a one-time strike.
