Rainbow Six Siege Will Add Legend Division Security Checks and Year 11 Season 3 Balance Changes
Authenticator-app verification will be required for the upcoming division, while PC recoil-macro detection is planned for later in August.

Rainbow Six Siege is preparing a major round of player-protection measures alongside balance changes for Year 11 Season 3. In its fourth Community Checkpoint recap, Ubisoft explained how sanctions work, outlined the requirements for Legend Division, and detailed several anti-cheat systems that are still in development.
The update follows Ubisoft’s July 31 refresher on Rainbow Six Siege’s player-protection rules. The rules cover conduct inside and outside matches, with penalties based on the severity, frequency, and intent behind an offense.
Siege’s rules cover more than in-match cheating
Ubisoft’s clarified rules prohibit software or hardware that provides an unfair advantage, even when the tool is not active during a match. Device spoofing also falls under the cheating rules because it can disguise the identity of the hardware being used.
Other sanctionable behavior includes using alternate accounts to bypass bans or dominate lower-skilled lobbies, playing with cheaters to boost progress, and deliberately matching specific accounts to manipulate ranking. External services that affect rank progression are covered as well.
- Negative communication: Bullying, harassment, threats, and hateful language can result in action.
- Botting: Bots, scripts, and automated systems cannot be used to imitate player behavior or farm progression.
- Account abuse: Sharing an account, using an account that does not belong to you, or submitting false account information is prohibited.
- Ban evasion: Circumventing anti-cheat detection or account bans can lead to further sanctions.
Legend Division will require stronger account security
Ubisoft said Operation System Override has produced the lowest number of cheating reports in recent seasons, except in the highest-ranked match pools. The team now wants its anti-cheat tools to have a greater effect at Diamond rank and above.
That effort will continue with the upcoming Legend Division. Players who enter the division will need two-step verification through an authenticator app. Anyone who enables the feature will receive an Alpha Pack, and app-based two-factor authentication will eventually reach other divisions too.
Legend Division will also introduce the R6 Shieldguard Secure Platform, which is built around three layers of system security:
- Secure Boot: Checks the startup chain, including firmware, the operating system, and drivers, before the game launches.
- VBS/Core Isolation (HVCI): Places sensitive Windows processes inside an isolated virtual environment.
- Trusted Platform Module (TPM): Uses cryptographic checks to confirm that Secure Boot and VBS/Core Isolation are active.
Players who want to use the platform will need to turn on Core Isolation in Windows Security. Some systems may also require a firmware upgrade before Secure Boot and TPM work correctly.
Year 11 Season 3 will adjust Dokkaebi and several weapons
Ubisoft also previewed balance changes planned for Year 11 Season 3. The goal is to keep high-power Operators in check without removing the traits that make them appealing.
Dokkaebi will lose the Impact EMP in favor of a Breach Charge. Her Jageo Payload will become an active upload rather than an instant effect, giving Defenders a chance to stop it before the call is placed. Entering the radius of a Mute Signal Disrupter or eliminating Dokkaebi during the upload can interrupt it. Tubarão will be able to disable the upload with a Zoto Canister, while IQ will see the targeted Defender’s phone. Solis’ SPEC-IO Electric Sensor will also detect Dokkaebi’s tablet during the upload.
The SMG-12 will receive lower damage and a smaller magazine. The MK14 and AR-15.50 DMRs will return to damage values below 60, meaning most targets will need another shot. Both weapons will also have more recoil, and their muzzle brake attachment will be removed.
Year 11 Season 3 will add another Operator with abilities designed to counter shields. Ubisoft will reveal that Operator and show the full set of Season 3 balance updates during the Esports World Cup on August 15, 2026.
Mousetrap and recoil detection target more cheating methods
Console players remain a focus for Ubisoft’s anti-cheat work. Mousetrap is designed to identify players who spoof their systems to use mouse and keyboard controls inside controller matchmaking pools. The team asked players to submit reports through the correct in-game category when they suspect this behavior.
Recoil macros are another target. Ubisoft is building a detection model for programs and scripts that remove recoil effects. The system is designed to be cautious, and account bans will only follow several confirmed cheating incidents. It will go live on PC later in August, while the console version remains in development.
The team is also working on a system that can review past matches and apply sanctions after the fact. Ubisoft is examining AI-assisted cheating on consoles too, with future anti-cheat work expected to address those tools.
Ubisoft plans more tools for cheating and toxic behavior
A shared kernel-level anti-cheat solution is being developed by a dedicated team within Ubisoft Security. Rainbow Six Siege will be among the first Ubisoft games to use it, and players will receive an explanation when they launch the game during Season 3.
Ubisoft also explained that manual bans require human review of the available evidence. A clip posted online is not enough by itself. The team checks backend data before deciding whether a ban is justified.
Further anti-toxicity work is planned across the next two seasons. Ubisoft listed voice-chat program updates before the end of 2026, a mandatory Code of Conduct beginning with Year 11 Season 4, clearer communication after cheating or toxicity reports, and Year 12 features that recognize positive behavior.
The full Community Checkpoint #4 livestream includes the team’s complete discussion of these changes.
