Rabbids, Assassin’s Creed, and More Could Be Coming to XDefiant

So, here’s the deal. Ubisoft’s XDefiant, their free-to-play shooter, might be getting more interesting. According to some datamined content shared by X user Rogue TX and picked up by Kotaku, we could see some significant crossovers.

Imagine factions from Assassin’s Creed, The Crew, and Rabbids all making their way into XDefiant. Yep, you heard that right. We’re talking about Assassins, Ghost Recon Breakpoint Operators, GSG9 members from Rainbow Six Siege, and even the Highwaymen from Far Cry: New Dawn. But wait, it gets even crazier. There are hints that we might see factions based on the driving game The Crew and the chaotic, colorful Rabbids.

If this turns out to be accurate, it’s a game-changer. Ubisoft is going all-in with this shooter, throwing in everything but the kitchen sink. And honestly, the more outlandish it gets, the better. Who doesn’t want to see a Rabbid going toe-to-toe with an Assassin?

But that’s not all, the datamined files also suggest we’ll get new game modes. Think team deathmatch, capture the flag, and infection. Plus, new weapons are on the horizon: a sawed-off shotgun, Tommy Gun, FAMAS, turret, RC car, FAL, and G36 rifle. It’s like Christmas for FPS fans.

For those who haven’t jumped in, XDefiant is available now on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Ubisoft has some ambitious plans for the game’s future. They’re rolling out new seasons every three months. Year 1 alone will have four seasons, each adding a new faction, three new weapons, and three new maps. And let’s not forget the 90-tier battle passes each season. That’s a lot of content to keep us hooked.

In our review at VGC, we said, “This has the raw ingredients of an excellent first-person shooter, even if it’s a bit rough and ready at launch. More factions and more game modes are all it needs to remain a permanent fixture in our gaming rotation, and the stranger it gets with it, the better. When can I play as a ship from Skull and Bones?”
