KRAFTON has closed the first PUBG: Black Budget closed alpha, saying the test drew more players than it originally planned and gave the team a lot to work on. The studio ran the alpha across the early December weekend and now says feedback is under review. Players reported issues with combat perception and situational clarity, repeated-run fatigue, stability problems and crashes, and continued reports tied to unauthorized programs that pushed the team to tighten anti-cheat measures.
In a post on Steam, KRAFTON wrote that the alpha let them “gather a wide range of feedback” on atmosphere, visuals, and systems while also exposing areas that need more work. The team said it will bring players back to Coli Island once the game is ready. You can read KRAFTON’s post on Steam here. The first alpha was the opening stress test for the game’s first-person extraction loop, and it gave testers a look at Black Budget’s pacing and hideout progression. Some early impressions noted the game feels more accessible than heavier extraction sims, but not far enough from existing entries to be a standout yet.
This Closed Alpha Test saw more interest and participation than anticipated,
allowing us to gather a wide range of feedback from players.Through the feedback shared by those who took part, we were able to assess the potential of the game’s atmosphere, visuals, and overall system design.
At the same time, feedback consistently highlighted issues related to combat perception, situational clarity, and fatigue during repeated runs.In addition, concerns and reports related to unauthorized programs continued to surface during the test period,
leading us to progressively strengthen security measures and anti-cheat responses throughout the test.
Some players also experienced technical issues such as game stability problems and crashes. These factors had a noticeable impact on the overall testing experience. All feedback submitted by players is currently under internal review and analysis.
For context on when the alpha ran, see our rundown of the closed alpha schedule here, which lists the test windows that included the Dec. 12 – 14 weekend. KRAFTON did not announce a specific return date. The studio said all feedback from this first alpha is under internal review as the team prioritizes stability and anti-cheat work ahead of further tests.
