Prologue is days away from launching into early access, and PlayerUnknown Productions has just published a roadmap outlining what the studio plans to add as development continues.
The pitch for Prologue has always been simple and a little cruel. There are no monsters. There is no loot treadmill. The threat is weather and scarcity, and the game centers on surviving a harsh environment while you hike toward the weather station that marks the end of a run. The new roadmap keeps that focus while promising a long list of improvements. The developer names improved pathing as a priority. Expanded construction is also on the list with a promise of “no limits on creativity” for players who want to build outposts and shelters. The roadmap also lists entirely new game modes that will change how individual runs play out.
Visuals and polish are another thread through the update. Early hands-on showed a build that was rough around the edges, but the game has come a long way since then. The roadmap frames early access as a multi‑phase effort to fix bugs, refine systems, and add content while keeping the core survival loop intact. One technical line stands out. Prologue uses machine learning for world generation, and that system is the first pillar of Project Artemis. PlayerUnknown Productions describes Project Artemis as a three-game plan that will scale into vast, planet-sized worlds. The roadmap, therefore, feels like part of a much larger engineering and design commitment.
That larger plan raises two things to watch. If the studio delivers on the roadmap, then Prologue will become an impressive showcase for the ML tools under development. If the studio slips on basics like pathing and stability, then the long-term vision may start to look optimistic rather than inevitable. For now, the roadmap gives players a clear set of priorities to expect in early access. Improved AI navigation, broader building options, new modes, and ongoing polish are at the top of the list. At the same time, the Project Artemis work hints at where the studio sees the franchise going after early access.
