Ubisoft has launched Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, marking the series’ grand comeback after a 14-year interlude since the release of The Forgotten Sands in 2010.
The development baton for this revival was passed to Ubisoft Montpellier, the creative force behind “Rayman Origins” and “Rayman Legends.” With “The Lost Crown,” the series returns to its sidescrolling essence but introduces a fresh Metroidvania dynamic. The narrative unfolds in the treacherous terrains of Mount Qaf, where players embody Sargon, a brave warrior on a mission to save the abducted Prince Ghassan. True to its roots, the game doesn’t shy away from the franchise’s signature time-manipulation elements.
Critical reception has been overwhelmingly positive. The Lost Crown has an innovative blend of the classic Prince of Persia gameplay with Metroidvania elements, lauding its level design, combat mechanics, platforming challenges, artistic style, exploratory depth, and auditory experience.
Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown is now available across multiple platforms, including PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
