Pokémon GO’s Choose Your Path: Venom and Vines research will begin on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. local time and remain available through Monday, August 17, at 8:00 p.m. local time. Trainers will have a path decision to make as the event gets underway.
The event graphic shared in a Reddit post shows three vertical cards in purple, green, and yellow. The right side features a purple Pokémon above a small green Pokémon, fitting the event’s venom-and-vines theme.
What the Venom and Vines graphic shows
Each card has its own color and a central Poké Ball-style symbol, but the image does not name the paths or explain what their research tasks will involve. The artwork confirms that choosing a route will be a core part of the event, while the individual rewards and requirements are not visible in the graphic.
How the Venom and Vines research paths work
Before the main branch appears, Trainers must complete one opening task: Claim Reward! It awards 500 Stardust and also grants 5 Poké Balls. After that, the account will present its available path choices.
Some accounts may receive three weekly paths, while others may receive six daily paths. The choice cannot be changed after selection. Weekly research remains active for the event, while each daily research set expires at the end of its day.
Weekly path bonuses
- Explore (Egg): 1/2 Egg Hatch Distance
- Catch (Candy): Additional Candy for catching Pokémon with Nice Throws or better
- Battle (Team GO Rocket): Extra Mysterious Components from Team GO Rocket Grunts
Daily path bonuses
- Explore (PokéStops): 5× XP for spinning PokéStops
- Catch (XP): 1.5× XP for catching Pokémon with Nice Throws or better
- Battle (Raids): An additional 5,000 XP for completing raids
- Explore (Hatch): 1/2 Egg Hatch Distance
- Catch (Candy): Additional Candy for catching Pokémon with Nice Throws or better
- Battle (Team GO Rocket): Extra Mysterious Components from Team GO Rocket Grunts
Every completed path awards 3 Golden Razz Berries and 5 Rare Candy. The research can also lead to encounters with either Venonat or Fomantis, depending on the version and path presented to the account.
Venom and Vines Field Research
Event-themed Field Research will also be available during Venom and Vines. These tasks can lead to encounters with either Venonat or Fomantis:
- Defeat a Team GO Rocket Grunt
- Make 5 Nice Throws
- Walk 1 km
