At around 2:00 PM JST, just as Mega Rayquaza raids started in Japan, Pokémon GO suffered a widespread server outage that left many Trainers staring at loading screens and error messages. An early spike of reports on DownDetector shows the issue was rapid and widespread. Players in Japan, Australia, parts of Europe, and North America posted about repeated “Failed to get data from server” errors, broken Gym interactions, and the inability to join or host raids. At the same time, the Mega Rayquaza event went live. The timing means many who planned to remote-raid for an early Rayquaza were locked out.
Niantic has not posted an official acknowledgment at the time of writing. It is unclear whether the Raid Day window will be extended or if Trainers will receive compensation like in past large-scale outages. For a refresher on the Raid Day schedule and bonuses, see our earlier guide Mega Rayquaza Raid Day will run on October 18, 2025, with boosted shiny odds and ticket bonuses.
For official status updates, check the Pokémon GO in-game News tab and the game’s verified social channels, including the Pokémon GO X account. Trainers attempting raids should also keep an eye on remote-raid party links and Gym status before spending tickets or passes. We will update this piece if Niantic posts a service update or adjusts the Raid Day timing. If you were affected tell us what happened and when on our channels below, we want the timeline.
