Pokemon GO’s major trainer-level rebalance that began on October 15 increased the level cap to 80 and changed XP requirements, then handed out the associated level rewards to players all at once. Because those level rewards arrived simultaneously, many trainers reported receiving thousands of items in a single go, including Poké Balls, potions, and bag and storage upgrades.
The sudden inflow pushed many players’ bags past their maximums. Overfilled inventories have stopped affected players from spinning PokéStops or getting items from gifts until they clear space by deleting items. One screenshot shared on X showed nearly 2,900 items in a bag that should hold far fewer, and another user reported 3,187 items after the update. Both examples illustrate why trainers may be unable to collect more items unless they manually free up space.
Thanks Pokémon Go. Love the trainer level update causing my storage to be this now. 😭😭😭😭 looks like I’m not spinning a pokestop until 2026. pic.twitter.com/o5pJht3HX6

Clearing the problem is straightforward: delete the correct number of items from the bag, and players can spin and receive gifts again. But many trainers are hesitant to trash certain rewards. The overhaul also removed Level-Up Research tasks for levels 41–50, added new functions for levels 71–80, and introduced extras such as expanded Pokémon storage, more gifts and postcards, new avatar items, and a Daily Adventure Egg that grants 10,000 XP once per day for qualifying trainers.
