PlatinumGames Wants to Expand Bayonetta, but Hasn’t Confirmed Another Game

Atsushi Inaba made the comments during an interview tied to the upcoming Bayonetta collaboration in Stellar Blade for Nintendo Switch 2.

PlatinumGames wants to keep developing Bayonetta’s character and world, but president Atsushi Inaba stopped short of confirming another game. Asked about future entries in a Famitsu interview, Inaba said, “I can’t really answer that right now,” before adding, “We have a strong desire to further develop the character of Bayonetta and expand her world. Please look forward to seeing what form that takes in the future.” The interview was tied to the upcoming Bayonetta collaboration in Stellar Blade for Nintendo Switch 2.

The series’ latest release, Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon, arrived in 2023 as a prequel spin-off after two direct sequels. Series co-creator and Platinum co-founder Hideki Kamiya left the studio that year, citing disagreements with its direction, and later opened his own studio to work on Okami 2.

Other developers associated with the series have also moved on. Bayonetta 3 director Yusuke Miyata and Bayonetta Origins director Abebe Tinari have left, alongside developers Takahisa Taura of Astral Chain and Kenji Saito of Metal Gear Rising.

PlatinumGames does not own the Bayonetta IP, which is split between Sega and Nintendo. The series’ sequels have been released as Wii U and Nintendo Switch exclusives.
