The latest update for Phasmophobia promises to shake things up with a near-total overhaul of how you gather evidence and tackle ghosts. The v0.13 patch introduces new media types, revamped CCTV features, and progress tweaks that might change your ghost-hunting routine forever.
Phasmophobia’s core excitement of being both hunter and hunted remains, but the methods to achieve your goals have been seriously reworked. The devs at Kinetic Games have pushed the update across all platforms, so whether you’re on PC or elsewhere, you’re in for a fresh experience.
Here’s a quick rundown: media collection now includes new photo types and categories like videos and sounds. You’ll have to hunt for distinct media pieces to get the best rewards, which means no more farming duplicates. Progression got a facelift, too, with optional objectives adding variety to how you level up. Plus, the CCTV system is now split into three sections, letting you watch multiple live camera feeds and record video from the safety of your truck.
Phasmophobia Update 0.13, In Detail
Photo carrying capacity is halved, but you gain two new photo types:
- EMF readings on EMF reader
- Three Ghost Forms – Physical, D.O.T.S, and Shadow
Meanwhile, four photo types have been shifted into a new video category:
- Light switches
- Door movements
- Thrown objects
- Ghost interactions with various objects
Videos you can now record include:
- Hunting Ghost
- Ghost triggering Crucifix
- Ghost Orbs
- Thrown objects
- Doors being moved
- Ghosts interacting with objects like rocking chairs or gas canisters
- A light source shattering
- Ghost blowing out a candle or fire
There’s a tease of yet undisclosed ghost types to discover too, so keep your stay alert.
Sound recordings also get a spotlight. You can capture:
- Paranormal sounds
- Hunting ghost noises
- Singing ghost events
- Spirit Box responses
The new distinct media system replaces the old three-star rating. The idea is simple:
- The first time you capture a piece of media during a contract, it’s marked as distinct.
- Duplicates will reward less money and experience.
- To get a Perfect Investigation, you must fill your Journal with distinct Media.
- You can now delete up to three media items per investigation, up from two.
The CCTV interface is now divided into three parts: CCTV Cameras, Video Cameras, and Head Cameras. You can monitor up to five live feeds simultaneously and record video media directly from the truck, which is a safer spot than running around haunted houses.
Alongside these headline features, the update bundles a raft of bug fixes and other tweaks. Kinetic Games has the official patch notes laid out in detail if you want the full nitty-gritty.
