Palworld just released its v0.6.4 update, bringing a fresh challenge with the new Moon Lord [Master] and plenty of tweaks to gameplay mechanics and bugs. If you’ve been hunting for something tougher or have been bothered by some of the quirks in previous versions, this patch might be worth your time.

So, what’s new? First up, Moon Lord [Master] is a stronger variant of the Moon Lord boss. To face this intimidating foe, players will need to collect a new item called the Celestial Sigil [Master]. Sounds like a real test of skill and patience…

There are also several changes to how your Pals behave. For example, summoned Pals won’t damage neutral or non-hostile Pals when they bump into them anymore, which should reduce some accidental chaos. Plus, sending an overpowered Pal team on expeditions won’t shorten the time but will increase the rewards instead. That’s an interesting trade-off—do you want faster runs or better loot?

Other gameplay mechanics got some polish, too. Enemies won’t respawn after you clear their bases, but this only applies to enemy-built bases, not static camps. Also, death markers now show up above base icons on the map, which could help you keep track of your past misadventures a bit better.

Fishing got some love as well, with additional fishing spots added and fish shadows persisting even if you leave the area. And the UI has been adjusted so that messages about not affording Pals from NPCs are clearer. Small changes, but they add up to a smoother experience.

Balance Adjustments

  • Fixed the partner skill “Trigger Happy” which had unintended high power.
  • Increased legendary blueprint drop rates from Terraria dungeon chests.
  • Adjusted selling prices for Terraria monsters.
  • Added Heat Resistance Lv1 / Cold Resistance Lv1 to Hallowed Plate Mail.
  • Changed breeding results involving Eye of Cthulhu.
  • Raid boss rewards now drop even if you didn’t directly damage the boss.
  • Increased “Ancient Civilization Parts” drops from certain Alpha Pals.
  • Overheat Rifle ammo crafted amount increased from 5 to 10.
  • Swimming speed increased for some Pals.
  • Adjusted mission NPC map placements for better level access.

Major Bug Fixes

  • Fixed mission progress loss or failure to progress.
  • Resolved disappearance of Pals in dimensional storage.
  • Items and Pals now drop in front of the Terraria dungeon entrance upon death inside the dungeon.

Other Bug Fixes

  • Moon Lord raid: Pals no longer attack destroyed body parts.
  • Corrected achievement unlocks for defeating Moon Lord.
  • Fixed Herbil’s partner skill bugs that could trap players or cause soft locks.
  • Crash fixed when switching input methods during chat.
  • Controller issues fixed for handing over Pals in missions and mission menu cursor.
  • Mission duplication bug on dedicated servers fixed.
  • Various NPC and mission dialogue inconsistencies corrected.
  • Capture counts fixed to avoid double counting kills.
  • UI fixes for Pal delivery mission info and mission descriptions.
  • Localization bug fixed where Japanese text appeared in other languages.
  • Sound effects issues after missions addressed.
  • Skill targeting and wall penetration bugs fixed.
  • Fishing minigame and guide display bugs resolved.
  • Fishing through walls/floors exploit fixed.
  • Multiplayer sound effect distance fixed for fishing and salvaging.
  • Fishing time calculation corrected with certain items.
  • Partner skill activation bugs fixed for Jelliette and Jellroy.
  • Underwater item drop behavior fixed.
  • Exploit with capturing NPC visitors repeatedly patched.
  • Frostplume partner skill behavior adjusted in arenas.
  • “Mercy” no longer applies inside the arena.
  • Spawn location and sorting order fixes for Pals and food items.
  • Missing partner skill icons restored.
  • Various minor bug fixes applied.

Wow, that’s quite a list! It’s good to see the developers tackling a wide range of issues, from gameplay balance to pesky bugs. I wonder how many players will jump straight into fighting the Moon Lord [Master] first? Maybe that’s what they were going for.
