One Fortnite split-screen session produced a bizarre control problem in Zero Build. When Player 2 opened an interface, Player 1’s aim began turning in response to the other player’s movements. A routine inventory check suddenly became a very strange sightseeing tour.
The issue appeared on an Xbox Series X in a duo lobby. When Player 2 opened an inventory, an extractor shop, or the map, Player 1 could no longer keep their aim pointed in the same direction. Cycling through weapons in the inventory made Player 1 look somewhere different with each movement.
A second Xbox Series X account describes the same behavior in split-screen Zero Build duos. Moving weapons around the inventory, opening the map, or using a vending machine menu can make Player 1’s camera jump and rotate, leaving them without reliable control for a while. The player says the problem has occurred without fail for several weeks.
Interactions with NPCs have also been described as a possible trigger, with Player 1’s camera moving around and even changing the direction they were facing. Season timing appears in the available accounts as well. One Xbox player said the problem began when the current season started, while another said the bug returned with the new season and remained after two updates.
Closing the interface returned Player 1’s view to its original direction in the first reported session, so the effect was temporary there. Neither account includes a reliable workaround.
For now, the known pattern is limited to split-screen Zero Build duos on Xbox Series X. The reports do not establish whether the same behavior affects other modes or consoles, or how many other interactions can trigger it.
Split-screen duos may want to avoid opening these menus while the other player is lining up a shot. Inventory management has never been the safest time for teamwork, but it should not be able to steer the other half of the screen.
