Once Human: RaidZone Plans Major Gameplay and Balance Changes

Developers reveal upcoming tweaks to PvP balance, friendly fire, weapon accessories, and anti-cheat measures.

Once Human: RaidZone is ready to introduce some noticeable changes aimed at improving fairness and strategy in the PvP mode. The devs have been watching how players interact with the current systems and are now ready to share their initial plans to address balance issues and other gameplay elements. Let’s break down what’s coming and why it might disrupt your next raid.

The core of the update targets territory combat, a fundamental part of the game. Some construction features, especially the use of flight mode in Construction mode during RaidZone, have been giving players unfair intel advantages. The team plans to disable or limit these features in RaidZone specifically to keep things fair. It’s all about making sure skill and strategy, not shortcuts, decide who wins.

Then there’s the infamous Manibus summon. Currently, this mechanic is a bit wild, its damage output and server impact have been throwing off the mode’s intended pace. The devs want to tighten it up by raising tech and resource costs for crafting-related items, cutting down the strike range and damage to structures, removing lingering area effects that drain Sanity and spawn Realm Fragments, and lessening the overall server damage it causes. They’re eager for a more balanced feel that fits nicely into attackers versus defenders gameplay, but it might take a few tweaks to get it just right.

One of the more interesting changes is the introduction of friendly fire. Right now, just having more players on your team can easily tip battles. Friendly fire will mean that weapons and skills can hurt your teammates and structures, pushing players to coordinate more carefully. This could spice up team fights since reckless firing won’t be an option anymore.

Weapon customization is also getting an overhaul. Weapon accessories will no longer be tied to unlocking through the Memetics system, which has been a bit of a grind and limited player choice. Instead, these accessories will be separate items you can equip or unequip freely, found through crafting, exploration, or PvP loot. This means you can boost your weapon stats immediately if you find a good accessory, without waiting to unlock anything. Plus, rare accessories will make weapons more helpful and a bigger target in PvP encounters. It’s a neat way to open up more strategic variety.

Fair play is a huge focus too. The devs are stepping up anti-cheat measures by constantly improving their detection systems with AI and Big Data tech. They’ve already fixed over 100 exploits, including teleportation and speed hacks. Players who team up with cheaters will face strict penalties. To help the community, banned players will be shown on a real-time ticker in the wilderness, and their ban status will appear on namecards and death screens. Quick-report buttons are also coming to make reporting easier. The devs have even worked with legal teams to take down hundreds of cheat sellers and are planning stronger crackdowns on cheat developers.

These changes aren’t set in stone yet, and the developers want feedback from the community. They’re also working on more gameplay features for a summer update, so there’s more to look forward to.
