Once Human developer Starry Studio has confirmed it will replace an exercise bike cosmetic after players noticed the item bears a close resemblance to No Man’s Sky’s Base Teleport Module. The swap follows public commentary from Hello Games head Sean Murray, who joked about a visible level of detail oversight in the original teleporter model.
The contested item sits in Once Human’s Sky King loot crate as part of the Thunder Overload cosmetic lineup and appears as a bike set inside a circular frame with an electrified inner ring. Players and mod-watchers quickly compared the prop to No Man’s Sky’s Base Teleport Module – the craftable device that lets players teleport between bases – noting similarities in the ringed silhouette and mechanical detailing despite different colors and a gyrating electricity effect.
Sean Murray responded on X with a dry take that undercut the accusation and pointed to a technical quirk in Hello Games’ own model. Murray wrote, “Joke’s on them,” and added “We forgot to LOD those rivets,” attaching a screenshot showing unusually high-polygon rivets left visible at low distance.

That exchange did more than settle a social media spat. It highlighted how small development oversights can become talking points when two games share a similar aesthetic. No Man’s Sky has been in the news throughout the year for larger updates like the free Voyagers expansion, which helped push Steam concurrency back into six figures, and the smaller 6.18 patch that bundled various gameplay and visual bug fixes. Players also pointed to a previous controversy earlier this year when Once Human appeared to borrow the symbol for Rainbox Six Siege operator Caveira for a weapon charm; that design was later changed. The studio’s statement suggests it will use the current incident to tighten its internal checks and avoid future collisions between its cosmetics and other developers’ assets.
