E3 doesn’t seem to have the same integrity and authenticity as before, as big names are slowly walking away from the participation list. As per recent news, the E3 2023 report disclosed that Sony, Nintendo, and Microsoft won’t be attending the event. Following this, Nintendo has affirmed that it will be skipping the event. In a statement issued to Venture Beat, the company stated, “We evaluate our participation in every event on a case-by-case basis and explore various avenues to connect with our fanbase.”
“We have decided not to participate in this year’s E3 show since it doesn’t align with our plans. Nonetheless, we remain a committed supporter of the ESA and E3,” stated the company. The announcement doesn’t come as a shock to dedicated Nintendo followers, considering the brand’s heavy dependence on digital-only Direct presentations in recent years. E3 2023 is being organized by ReedPop, which, in conjunction with the Entertainment Software Association, is putting together a “new type” of show that caters to their objectives and requirements. It’s worth mentioning that this fact underscores the significance of the event for the gaming community.
Despite Nintendo’s absence, this year’s event promises to be intriguing. Ubisoft has teased a “strong lineup,” and we can anticipate the release dates of other top notch releases. According to rumors, Konami is expected to appear at the event and unveil a Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake and a new Castlevania game. As always, keep an eye out for additional information and updates in the upcoming months.
