Nintendo Switch 2 Rumors Point to DLSS 3.5

Initially released in March 2017, the Nintendo Switch has been a commercial hit, and rumors about a follow-up console are growing louder. NateTheHate, an insider known for reporting on gaming tech, has recently shared some new insights into the expected features and launch window for the Nintendo Switch 2.

According to NateTheHate, the new Nintendo console could feature an 8-inch screen and will likely be released in September or October 2024. Another source, SoldierDelta, mentioned that a November release is on the table as a backup option.

One of the more exciting details NateTheHate revealed is that the Nintendo Switch 2 might use Ray Reconstruction technology. This could be why the rumored The Matrix Awakens demo at Gamescom received positive reactions from those who saw it. However, the quality of the graphics would rely heavily on the denoisers used and how well games utilize this technology.

NateTheHate has indicated that the demo ran on Nvidia’s DLSS 3.5 instead of the earlier rumored 3.1 version. DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling) is a technology that improves graphic performance without sacrificing too much quality. However, NateTheHate also reported that the Nintendo Switch 2’s version of DLSS 3.5 might not offer all the features found on its PC counterpart. Frame generation, a technique to boost performance further, is said to be absent.

As for the cost, the Nintendo Switch 2 is rumored to come with two different models: a Standard Edition priced at $449 and an all-digital version for $399.

All this information is considered to be rumor and speculation, and the public will have to wait for official announcements, which are expected to happen in the upcoming year.
