Action fans have a reason to pay attention as Ninja Gaiden 4 Izuna is scheduled to be showcased during Gamescom Opening Night Live next week. After some strong entries like the 2D style Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound, the series is returning to its current 3D roots, and it looks like things will get bloody again.
Published by Xbox and developed jointly by Team Ninja and PlatinumGames, Ninja Gaiden 4 has been receiving positive talk from early hands-on reports. The game stars a new character named Yakumo, but fans of the series won’t be left out, as the iconic Ryu Hayabusa will also be playable and play a significant role in the story.
It’s always interesting when a new protagonist steps into a series that’s so tied to a specific character. Will Yakumo be able to carry the same weight? Guess we’ll find out soon enough. The game is slated for release on 21st October 2025 for PlayStation 5, so this upcoming appearance will probably be the last big look before launch.
For those who want to catch the reveal, Gamescom Opening Night Live will stream live next Tuesday at 8pm CEST / 2pm ET / 11am PT. You can watch it here. Maybe this will be the moment that finally settles if Ninja Gaiden can still cut it in today’s crowded action scene.
