With Escape from Tarkov’s long-awaited 1.0 launch set for November 15, studio head Nikita Buyanov offered new insight into how the upcoming version balances between its core PvPvE roots and the growing popularity of the PvE mode.
According to Buyanov, Tarkov was “never intended as a PvE game” in its early vision. The mode was originally planned to arrive well after release, but the team pushed to deliver it roughly 1.5 years ahead of schedule to meet player demand. “All of the future changes for PvE were planned also after the release – and still planned,” he added.
While PvE will continue to receive enhancements, Battlestate Games remains primarily focused on Tarkov’s signature PvPvE experience, blending human and AI threats across its raids. Buyanov closed with a message of unity to the community: “Peace, love, belief and common sense to all of you.”
fun fact – PvE mode was planned to add after the release, but we were working 24/7 to bring it faster and finally added it approx. year and a half earlier than planned. All of the future changes for PvE were planned also after the release – and still planned.
At the start, Tarkov…— Nikita Buyanov (@nikgeneburn) November 12, 2025
The statement suggests that version 1.0 will lean toward the game’s original competitive structure, with PvE updates arriving later. As launch day approaches, players can expect Tarkov’s live version to emphasize its multiplayer core. At the same time, those preferring a calmer, offline-style experience may need to wait a little longer for the next wave of PvE refinements.
