Escape From Tarkov 1.0 has been live for a week and its director, Nikita Buyanov, has posted what he says will come next for the extraction shooter. Buyanov opened his update with a blunt assessment of the launch week. “What a week,” he writes on X. “This week was actual stress testing not only of our servers but also our mind and nerves for sure. But seeing you enjoy the game makes us feel better.” That sums up a rollout that mixed strong player interest with crashes and connection pain for many.
Buyanov says the immediate focus is stability. “We plan to use this couple of months to prioritize and get more and more fixes and improvements into the game,” he wrote, promising a series of patches and work on server health. Those remarks follow clear player frustration reflected in a 47% positive Steam rating and loud complaints about the studio’s Steam storefront changes and community interactions.
Almost one week passed from 1.0 release. And what a week! This week was actual stress testing not only of our servers but also our mind and nerves for sure😅
But seeing you enjoying the game makes us feel better!
As I mentioned, we plan to use this couple of months to prioritize…— Nikita Buyanov (@nikgeneburn) November 22, 2025
There are also concrete content promises. Buyanov confirms “There will be winter in Tarkov, new storyline quests, [and a] new event.” He adds that “Sometime after there will be the introduction of seasonal character with the whole new seasons system.” Battlestate says more details will arrive during their New Year Tarkov TV in December, and the post included a limited time code: SCAVYBOI for a small freebie.

The update comes as Tarkov finds itself facing more rivals in the extraction space and other PvPvE offerings. That competition has not dented the game’s distinct appeal for many players, but the combination of launch bugs and a contested Steam move has kept discussion loud. Buyanov paired the roadmap with a short video update and screenshots. The studio is clearly prioritizing fixes first and then rolling in seasonal content and new quests as stability improves. There is still a 15% discount on Tarkov for a limited time on Steam if players have been holding off.
