The Pokémon Company has some interesting news for fans as they announce an upcoming trading card game set dedicated to the Pokémon Black and White series. This special set is designed to commemorate the Unova region’s debut, which first appeared in these favorite games and was originally released on the Nintendo DS in 2010.
This new collection will feature all 156 Pokémon introduced with Pokémon Black and Pokémon White, marking a noteworthy milestone as we celebrate 15 years since their launch. The Japanese version of this set will be called Black Bolt and White Flare and is scheduled for release on July 18th, while English-speaking fans can look forward to its arrival later in the year.
A standout aspect of this special release is that it won’t be available through traditional booster packs or boxes at retail locations. Instead, it seems it will follow a similar approach to the recent Pokémon Prismatic Evolutions. According to reports from PokéBeach, collectors can expect two distinct Elite Trainer Boxes—one showcasing Reshiram and another featuring Zekrom. This dual-box setup echoes past releases, including the previous dual offering seen with 2024’s Temporal Forces.
The product lineup seems reminiscent of what was offered for Pokémon Prismatic Evolutions, which included various collectible items such as:
- Elite Trainer Box
- Poster Collection
- Binder Collection
- Mini-tins
- Tech Sticker Packs
- Premium Collection Boxes
- Booster Bundles
If you’re eager for more Pokémon TCG content, mark your calendars for May 30, when the next major set titled Destined Rivals will be released.
This month also saw The Pokémon Company address concerns regarding trading cards’ availability issues. They acknowledged that high demand has made certain products difficult to find:
“We’re aware that some fans are experiencing difficulties purchasing certain Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) products due to very high demand impacting availability,” a spokesperson stated. “We understand this inconvenience can be disappointing for fans, and we are actively working to print more of the impacted Pokémon TCG products as quickly as possible and at maximum capacity to acknowledge this. Reprinted products are expected to be available at participating retailers as soon as possible.”
